Garfield:
Holiday Celebrations
No one loves the cold months better than acerbic fat cat
Garfield, who thrives on a bounty of junk food and traditional
meals in the delightful collection of musical-comedy TV specials
Garfield Holiday Celebrations. "Garfield's Halloween Adventure"
finds the portly hero and airhead-sidekick Odie the dog
scrounging through owner Jon's attic to find perfect costumes,
then encountering ghosts and ghoulies that seem a tad authentic.
"Garfield's Thanksgiving" is a screwball special in which Jon
harasses veterinarian Liz into being his Turkey Day guest.
Trouble is, Jon is clueless about how to cook a big bird;
fortunately, starving Garfield has the good sense to call in
Jon's spirited grandmother for a culinary rescue. Grandma shows
up, too, in "A Garfield Christmas," about a family get-together
that covers all the nice holiday stuff and, of course, lots of
bickering, pouting, and jealousy. As long as Garfield gets his
Yuletide lasagna, however, all is right with the world.

Will
Vinton's Claymation Christmas Plus Halloween & Easter Celebrations
Will Vinton's unique Claymation productions have won the hearts of viewers young
and old. The three holiday specials presented here (Halloween, Christmas and
Easter) aired originally on network television between 1987 and 1992.
"Claymation Comedy of Horrors"
This wacky Halloween Special features Wilshire Pig and his reluctant sidekick,
Sheldon Snail, on a quest for a secret diary that will lead them to Dr.
Frankenswine's monster. Once inside the Doctor's castle, however, they find a
Monster's Convention--a riotous Jamboree of ghouls, ghosts, and goblins going
on. This hilarious horror spoof is a rapid-fire display of amazing animation,
ridiculous sight gags, laughs and general ruckus. (1991, 24 minutes.)
"Claymation Christmas Celebration"
Herb and Rex, the Jurassic odd couple, introduce segments featuring the Three
Wise Men, singing camels, ice-skating penguins, and the hilarious Paris
Bellharmonic Orchestra. There's even a Motown rendition of "Rudolph the
Red-Nosed Reindeer." The entire cast joins a rousing chorus finale of "Here We
Come A-Wassailing," which is certain to put everyone in the Christmas mood.
(1987, 24 minutes.)
"Claymation Easter"
Claymation Easter marks the return of Wilshire Pig, with an absurd plan to
kidnap the Easter Bunny just days before the holiday and launch himself as the
first ever Easter Pig. As one would expect, things go terribly wrong for
Wilshire in a serious of disastrous and hilarious misadventures. As with all of
Will Vinton's creations, totally off-the-wall comedy is matched with eye-popping
animation. (1992, 23 minutes.)
